Stephen Page at Atlanta Saxophone Day.
Rousseau Mouthpieces had an absolute blast exhibiting at the 2022 Atlanta Saxophone Day. This event featured new and accomplished saxophone players from around the Atlanta area who convened to Georgia State University to contribute to a rich and diverse event program. The day was packed full of masterclasses, focus sessions, saxophone ensembles, artist and participant recitals, and exhibitors.
We had the privilege of participating alongside Rousseau Artist Stephen Page, Associate Professor of Saxophone and Director of Undergraduate Studies at the Butler School of Music within the University of Texas at Austin. After the day began with a group warm up, Stephen Page took the stage to present an insightful lecture on saxophone fundamentals. After lunch, Stephen delivered a virtuosic solo recital and hosted a compelling masterclass to a few lucky saxophonists. All participants left this event inspired, better musicians thanks to Stephen’s thoughtful guidance.
Our exhibit booth was active throughout the day, where we helped new and seasoned musicians find their magic mouthpiece. On display was a diverse selection of Classical and Jazz saxophone mouthpieces by Rousseau, JodyJazz, and Chedeville. Many participants were eager to try our new Rousseau ER50 Custom and Classic Alto Saxophone mouthpieces, the first new Rousseau mouthpiece models to be introduced in almost a decade and the only Rousseau mouthpieces made from start to finish at the JodyJazz factory in Savannah, GA. We also had the opportunity to showcase the newest mouthpiece model by JodyJazz. Needless to say, Atlanta Saxophone Day attendees were enamored with the word’s first Hand-Hammered mouthpiece! We were thrilled to exhibit alongside our new dealer Atlanta Prowinds. Thank you, Neil, for all of your help!
We would like to extend our most sincere thanks to Amy Reid, the Director of Educational Outreach, Brandyn Taylor, Saxophone Professor, and the rest of the Georgia State University crew for organizing this great event and for letting us join in on the fun. We look forward to seeing everyone at next year’s event!
